District Early Intervention Centre
The District Early Intervention Center (DEIC) is established under the Rashtriya Bal Swasthya Karyakram (RBSK) to identify and treat health issues in children aged 0 to 18 years. At DEIC, health problems falling under the 4D categories—Defects at birth, Deficiencies, Diseases, and Developmental delays including disabilities—are diagnosed and managed.
This center provides essential services for children’s physical, mental, and intellectual development through the collaboration of various specialists, including doctors, physiotherapists, speech therapists, psychologists, and nutritionists. Efforts are made to address children’s issues through physiotherapy, speech therapy, behavioral counseling, disability diagnosis, and assistive devices.
By adopting an integrated approach to children’s health, DEIC ensures early diagnosis and treatment of health issues, empowering children to overcome future challenges.
DEIC’s Scope of Work through 4D:
- Defects at Birth: For example, diagnosis and treatment of congenital heart diseases, cleft lip, and eye defects.
- Deficiencies: Focus on conditions like anemia and deficiencies in vitamins and minerals.
- Diseases: Management of infectious and non-infectious diseases in children.
- Developmental Delays, Including Disabilities: Addressing issues related to physical, mental, and intellectual development.
DEIC serves as a crucial center for providing Free health services to children aged 0 to 18 years.
