Lake Ladki Scheme – Government of Maharashtra
Nature of the Scheme
The Women and Child Development Department, Government of Maharashtra has launched the first “Lake Ladki” scheme for the girl child born on or after 1st April 2023.
Some of the major objectives of this scheme are as follows:
- To increase the birth rate of girls by encouraging the birth of girls.
- Promoting girl child education.
- Reduce girl mortality and prevent child marriage.
- Reducing malnutrition rates.
- Encouraging the out-of-school ratio to zero.
Under the scheme, the following financial assistance is provided:
- Rs. 5,000 after the birth of a girl child in yellow and orange ration card holder families.
- Rs. 6,000 in class I, Rs. 7,000 in class VI, Rs. 8,000 in class XI.
- After the beneficiary girl reaches the age of 18 years, a total amount of Rs. 101,000 will be given.
Eligibility Conditions
The following conditions apply for eligibility under the Lake Ladki scheme:
- This scheme is applicable to one or two girls born on or after 01 April 2023 in yellow and orange ration card holder families.
- If there is one boy and one girl, it will apply to the girl child.
- It will be mandatory for the mother/father to submit the family planning certificate for the third installment of the first child and for the second installment of the second child.
- If twins are born during the second delivery, the benefit of the scheme will be admissible to one or both girls.
- Family planning certificate will be required if twins are born after the second delivery.
- Families having a daughter/son born before 01 April 2023 will also be eligible for the second daughter or twin daughters born after the plan is implemented.
- The family must be a resident of Maharashtra state.
- The beneficiary’s bank account must be in Maharashtra state.
- The annual income of the beneficiary family should not exceed Rs. 1 lakh.
Necessary Documents
To apply for the Lake Ladki Scheme, the following documents are required:
- Beneficiary’s Birth Certificate.
- Income Certificate of Head of Family (Annual Income should not exceed 1 Lakh). Certificate from Tehsildar/Competent Officer.
- Beneficiary’s Aadhaar Card (Relaxed for the first instance).
- Aadhaar card of the parent.
- Photocopy of the first page of the bank passbook.
- Ration Card (Yellow or Orange Ration Card – Attested Copy).
- Voter Identity Card (Certificate of girl’s name in electoral roll after completion of 18 years for last benefit).
- Bonafide proof of education from the relevant school.
- Family Planning Surgery Certificate (Subject to Condition No. 2 of Condition No. “A”).
- A self-declaration from the beneficiary stating that the girl is unmarried.
Beneficiary:
The girl child born on or after 1st April 2023
Benefits:
after the birth of a girl child, Rs. 5 thousand, Rs. 6 thousand in class I, Rs. 7 thousand in class VI, Rs. 8 thousand in class XI and after the beneficiary girl reaches the age of 18 years, she gets 75 A total amount of Rs.101000/- will be given.
